# Case studies and field insights

This section provides a curated set of case studies that illustrate how the OECD Principles can be applied in practice across different political and operational contexts.

Each case focuses on a specific challenge within the information environment - including issues related to safety, funding, coordination, regulatory frameworks, and local ownership - and highlights the types of trade-offs and decisions that shape outcomes in practice.

The cases draw on interviews with donor representatives, implementing partners, and media organisations, as well as selected external research and sector evidence.

They are designed to complement both:

* the [**By Principles section**](/toolkit/principle.md), by showing how the principles operate in practice
* the [**By Roles section**](/toolkit/role.md), by illustrating how different actors navigate constraints, risks, and operational choices

Rather than presenting idealised examples, the cases highlight **real-world constraints, unintended consequences, and areas of tension**. They can be used to inform context-sensitive programme design, strengthen risk awareness, and support more coherent and effective approaches to media support.\
